Google Adsense Ad Size Performance Revealed – Put Best Performing Ads in Your Pages !
My fellow publishers asked me this question numerous times that, what are the best performing Adsense ad units through which I can get a higher CTR, so that my earnings may increase. So, I thought to tell you about the best performing ad units which you can insert in your pages to get the most out of Adsense.
So, I had created a CTR graph which is relative to the most popular Adsense unit Full Banner Size (468 x 60). See the below given graph and you can clearly distribute the CTRs on various Ad units.

High CTR Adsense Units
Have you noticed the graph above, the higher sizes are the best performing units and will also get higher clicks.
How to Test?
Even I used the same technique which I am going to tell you right now. Start with lower size ad units and then check the CTR for a week and then change the ad units on your page with the next large size ad unit, you will get a clear idea of which ad-unit is performing the best. For example, if you have 120×600 ad unit already installed on your site, replace it with 160×600 size unit and wait for atleast a week or so and then check the CTR.
Additional Tip:
Here’s a additional tip, never place low paying ad units on top of your pages, because these units will decrease the overall CTR of your site. Because, Adsense algorithm displays the best paying ads on the first adsense code it detects on a page and then the quality decreases gradually when you go down to the page. Hence, try a large rectangle (336 x 280) on top of your page and check the CTR for about a week as described above.
My Best Paying Units:
Here, I would like to share my opinion about the highest CTR on my blog site. Actually, I had tested my site with almost all of the Adsense units and found that theMedium Rectangle (300 x 250) andLarge Rectangle (336 x 280) are performing best for my site. Moreover, you can also go for aWide Skyscraper (160 x 600), if you have enough space on your site.
